The Nature Preschool of Baltimore is dedicated to guiding children as they develop into whole, healthy, mindful people.

Awe is the most compelling way to learn. Children develop creative and critical thinking  through a wide variety of experiences. We believe in, practice, and encourage a diversity of perspective, investigating new things. 

Over the meadow and through the woods, we go. There is so much to explore! We spend most of our time in the beautiful outdoors, with intentional activities designed to maximize learning outcomes.

Empathy is at the center of our relationship to the world. Through mindfulness, listening games, friendly communication, and taking care of gardens, animals, and each other, we cultivate compassion, appreciation, respect and cooperation.  We believe schools are agencies for social change and hope to make the world better  through every interaction, every day  

Play is the natural drive to learn about the world. Through their exploration, children are motivated to discover, empowered to make choices, and encouraged to think critically and creatively to develop solutions to problems.

Stillness. Calmness. Rest. Our approach includes breaks to rest our minds and bodies, to appreciate the moment, and to cultivate focus through breathing games and mindfulness practice. Our child-centered program offers a balance between active and quiet time.

Inspired by Reggio Emilia approach valuing the   hundred languages of children our atelier (art studio) is a dedicated space for children to be immersed in self expression through multimedia visual arts.

All of our children become deeply engaged in the art of discovery, exploration, and expansion of interests. They practice being part of a group as well as self-directed activities.  They spend their days in an environment that encourages their individuality

and sense of self as part of the world.

Nature Preschool Programs

  • Half Day, Full Day, Extended Day, and Summer Programs.

  • Educational Programs for children aged 2-5 years.

  • Classes of 5-10 students, average 3-5 students per teacher.

  • Guided outdoor play for 2-6 hours per day on 45 acres.

  • Valuable preparation for kindergarten and beyond.

  • Playgrounds, bikes, hikes, gardens, art, educational materials, learning games, music, pets, and more!

  • Organic, local, nutritious, low-sugar snacks provided.

  • Daily mindfulness practices, exercise, and rest.
